Added a "flashcarding" option to most Wordwalls game selections. You can either "Play" which will bring up the regular Wordwalls game, or "Flashcard", which will let you quickly go through the words.
The "flashcard" mode was written by David Whitley based on code by Chris Ten Den. Thank you!
It is not too complex. It will just show you alphagrams and you can either type in the answers and press Enter, or you can just click through the flashcards with the Solve button. It does not keep track of missed words. You can also click Hint to see the first, second, etc. letters. If you click Auto, the program will just flip through all the cards automatically. Change the speed with + or -.
You can flashcard any of your saved lists too, either the entire list, or the "first missed" list. In either case, your lists will NOT be affected. Flashcarding does not save or modify any information, rather, it can be a good way to familiarize yourself with a word list before playing it on Wordwalls.
Finally, I fixed a bug that didn't let people quiz on first missed lists. Ugh, someone please write some unit tests for me.
Edit -- some additional notes:
-
The quiz is loaded in chunks of 100, and not all at once, so you will need an internet connection. I will probably increase this in the near future.
-
If you use the "Scramble" font the letters will look like the tiles for a popular crossword board game!
Edit 2: Changed chunk size to 1000. This lets you load a flashcard quiz of 1000 or less alphagrams, and go offline for a while (like an airplane).
